Security of Bikes around Campus
Most members will have a specific “campus” bike to ride to lectures and the shops etc, as although Loughborough University is very safe and has regular patrols from security bike theft is still a problem, so under no circumstances should you secure your more valuable bike in sight around campus.
The university provide sheds for storage of bikes around campus but although better than being outside a large number of people still have access and security cannot be fully guaranteed. It is advised that you take advantage of the fact club members can store bikes in their hall rooms (if you meet the requirements stated) which is the most secure place to store them. Insurance for the bike is also a good idea to ensure you are covered if the unthinkable happens and your bike gets stolen.

Keeping your bike safe and secure at the university couldn’t be easier…
On campus there are 67 cycle storage areas, a number of which are undercover. All student Halls have secure cycle storage available. Further information about these can be found on the interactive map by searching ‘Transport and Parking & cycle racks’ http://maps.lboro.ac.uk/
Security offer a free bike registration service. A small tag is placed on your bike and registered to yourself; if the bike is reported missing and recovered it can easily be re-united with you.
Security also offer a D lock for £10 each, these are far more secure than chains, cables and padlocks.
