Whenever you join an athletic union club your subsidies go straight into that club. The cycling club has the lowest subsidies of any AU club these are due to the nature of our sport; we spend the majority of our time outside and supply our own bikes. The finances inside the club are split using the numbers of members who take part in each discipline. So if you only ride road your money will be spent on something road orientated rather than mountain bike.
The money is spent on two areas Club Kit and Club Trips. The club has a substantial amount of kit for you to borrow and use to help improve your cycling you can see the current kit list HERE. If you have any suggestions of kit you would like the club to purchase we are always open and would love to here your comments.
The majority of your money is spent on subsidising Club Trips with the hire of Vans and Mini buses for day and weekend trips. These trips take you to all corners of the country to races and good training locations. The trips go to Wales, Scotland, Peaks, Lakes, BMX tracks and Velodromes. The more intrest there is in a trip or location the more likely we are to put it on.
The club doesn’t pay for individual race entries and will only fork out for petrol claims if you have filled your car to the brim with people, bikes and kit. This will normally be organised in advance to make the best use of several cars heading to the same events. To be able to claim your petrol back you have to have registered your car at the union and have a VAT recipt.
We aim to spend your money in a fair and cost effective way. If you have any questions, suggestions or comments please contact the current treasurer HERE.
