A Summary of who we cater for

As a club we try to accommodate a wide range of abilities from beginner up to international level racers. In the past we have seen great success from novices joining the club to ride for the first time and watching them progress over their time at Loughborough to being successful racers which shows that we offer excellent support for members who are looking to progress in this way.

However a large number of people don’t want to race as seriously and to cater for this we hold regular rides, day trips to riding spots such as the Peak District and Cannock Chase and Weekend’s away to Wales and Scotland to take advantage of the wide range of riding on offer in the UK. The only requirement we have is that you own a bike and a helmet, if you do not and are looking to get into the sport then speak to the XC Captain (Phillip Davies) who can help guide you in this regard.

Equipment for all Club Rides

The following is a list of equipment that should be carried on all club rides, your are ultimately responsible for making sure you are able to repair the most common problems with what you have carried so ensure you have the following:

  • Helmet (cannot ride without one)
  • Suitable clothing for the conditions
  • Suitable food and drink for the ride
  • Pump
  • Spare inner-tube
  • Puncture repair kit
  • Money
  • Mobile Phone
  • Multi-tool (with chain-tool preferably)
  • Spare chain-link (powerlink)
  • A working bike
  • Rear light (darkness set’s in earlier in winter)

In addition for night rides suitably powerful front lights are required, the club have a selection of lights that can be hired out to members for this purpose and should be organised with the Kit Secretary well in advance of the ride, rear lights are also essential for these rides.
